Over the weekend, the social media hemisphere was set ablaze by the reaction to a controversial post made by R&B singer Ciara. Encouraging women to stop walking “in the spirit of ‘girlfriend,’” the attached video featuring a sermon by John W. Gray III made for some very interesting side conversations on Twitter. Shortly afterwards, Ciara’s ex Future appeared to tweet in response, which basically poured gasoline on an already roaring fire
The tweet in question, which read, “Make sense on social media. Great Job,” wasn’t necessarily addressed at Ciara, but contextually it seems hard to disassociate the two. After what was a messy breakup, one that included calling off an engagement, with the singer four years ago, it feels like the HNDRXX rapper may still feel a certain kind of way about how things played out.
